In This Fateful hour: A Hitchhikers' Tale
By: Catherine Elizabeth Lynn
The story you are about to read is true. The names have been changed to protect against frivolous lawsuits. All crimes depicted in this manuscript have surpassed the statute of limitations.
Dedication
This book is dedicated to my children: Erin Elizabeth Simmons and Joseph Robert Simmons. Also, to Rex Freedom Lynn, Gustav Peace Train Lynn, Jake Thai'Stick Lynn, George Hashish Lynn, Keith Hanson, and Weed Opium Bower.
My Gratitude extends to Forest. Without his infinite love, patience, and understanding, this book would not exist.
In Timeless devotion to my brother, Robert James Lynn whom was taken before his time. You remain in my thoughts, always. I miss you.
To all the people that have entered my life. All of you have made me happy. A few, by remaining. The rest have made me smile, by leaving.
Furthermore, if my first husband was not such a bastard, I doubt if my journey would have been no exhilarating.
Bite me, Worthless!
In this fateful hour.
Ash laden trees,
Shadow the heart.
Of the last standing ruin.
The wind stirs.
And lets out.
Its' last cool breeze.
As if there's hope.
We know.
There's none.
Nothing can be saved.
In a world
Where mad men are in charge
Of buttons that murder creation.
Man against man.
Brother against brother.
Fighting in a desperate war
Of pride.
The battle is over.
Neither side triumphs
Over this galaxy of wasteland
Created by ourselves.
The death carrying dust clears;
And out of the last, standing ruins.
Comes a child.
Remaining innocent.
In the center of death.
The child looks,
at the burning bodies of civilization,
and smells the stench.
As nothingness takes over
The child views all,
And, In This Fateful Hour.
The naked child turns,
and laughs.
Then, sucks her thumb.
